Dear CUSD Families,
On a daily basis, we have been working with the Health Department, County Office of Education and Santa Clara County Superintendents to remain in alignment with actions and responses in support of students, staff, and community.
Based on information from the Santa Clara County Health Department and the Santa Clara County Office of Education today, starting Monday, March 16, 2020, the Cupertino Union School District will be closed to students temporarily. Based on today’s announcement from the County Public Health Department ordering a ban on gatherings larger than 35 people, which means we cannot effectively operate our schools. Based on this order, schools will be closed through April 3, 2020. In addition, we are working with FUHSD and Sunnyvale School District to shift Spring Break to the week of April 6-10, 2020.
On Monday, only District Management staff will be on campuses planning for staff professional development related to flexible learning. On Tuesday and Wednesday, all staff will be asked to report to work, at which time they will work with their supervisors to engage in department planning related to the scope of work and service to the teaching, learning, health, and well-being of staff and students.
Families will receive information by Thursday, March 19, 2020, about our plan to support student learning over this time period
In the meantime, feel free to pull ideas and resources to support student learning at home until you hear more from us on Thursday. Our website has a variety of resources available for families, in addition to family and community resources to help support students with stress and anxiety around this type of issue.
