CMS-PTO Talk: Drugs, Alcohol, and Other Substances – How to Talk to Your Kids About Use and Abuse

February 27, 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm UTC-7

Drugs, Alcohol, and Other Substances – How to Talk to Your Kids About Use and Abuse.

6:30-7:30pm in the CMS Library.

Many parents are concerned about their tweens’ and teens’ exposure to drugs, alcohol, and other substances. Issues such as underage drinking, marijuana legalization, vaping (e-cigarettes), and abusing prescription drugs, such as Ritalin, are worrisome.

Do you have questions about setting limits, disciplining, or monitoring your kids? Do you think you have the necessary knowledge to communicate with your tweens and teens about these issues?

This presentation will help you develop an effective parent-teen  conversation about drug and alcohol use. You’ll learn about the psychoactive nature of common substances, dosage ranges, and risks. Communication guidelines will be demonstrated and discussed. There will Q&A at the end. Parents and guardians only, please.
